Clinical Trial Finder

Your lupus is specific.
Your trial search
should be too.

Flare matches your exact lupus manifestation — subtype, medications, location — to clinical trials actively recruiting right now, not a generic list from last year.

How matching actually works

No black box. Every step below shows you exactly what data we use, what we filter by, and what we never touch.

We ask about your lupus subtype (SLE, cutaneous, nephritis, or pediatric), your current SLEDAI activity level if known, active organ involvement, and the medications you're currently taking. We use this to filter trials by their inclusion criteria — so you only see trials you actually qualify for. We never share your symptom data with anyone. It lives only in your browser session until you choose to submit.

Data we use

  • Lupus subtype
  • Current medications
  • Active symptoms
  • Disease activity level

Never shared or stored

  • Your name
  • Date of birth
  • Insurance info
  • Medical records

We show trials sorted by distance from your zip code. You can set a radius — 25, 50, or 100 miles — or filter to trials with remote visits and telehealth screening. Many Phase II and III lupus trials now allow remote baseline visits. Your zip code is used only for distance calculation and is never stored or transmitted to trial sponsors.

Data we use

  • Zip code (distance only)
  • Preferred travel radius
  • Remote visit preference

Never shared or stored

  • Your exact address
  • GPS location
  • Travel patterns

Every trial has 20–40 eligibility criteria. We surface only the ones that will actually exclude most people — things like ANA titer thresholds, prior biologic use, or recent kidney biopsy requirements. You see a clear yes/no checklist before you ever contact a site coordinator. If you don't meet criteria today, we'll note which trials you might qualify for after a medication change.

Data we use

  • ANA/anti-dsDNA status if known
  • Prior biologic history
  • Organ involvement
  • Current SLEDAI score

Never shared or stored

  • Lab values
  • Biopsy reports
  • Physician notes

Accountability

Who runs these trials

Not pharmaceutical marketing. Real academic rheumatology centers with named principal investigators and documented IRB oversight.

IRB-approved only

Every trial listed on Flare has cleared Institutional Review Board ethics review. We verify approval status before listing and remove trials the moment recruiting closes.

ClinicalTrials.gov verified

All trials are cross-referenced with ClinicalTrials.gov NCT numbers. You can verify any listing independently with one click.

Sponsor-blind matching

Trial sponsors do not pay for placement. Matching is based entirely on your profile — not on who has the bigger marketing budget.
